Bio
Youngsoo Yu is an Assistant Professor in International Relations and Security at the University of North Korean Studies. He received his Ph.D. in Political Science from Binghamton University, and B.A. and M.A. in Political Science at Seoul National University. He is an active analyst on issues surrounding human rights violations and international peace and security whose works have been published in leading academic journals including the Journal of International and Area Studies, Journal of East and West Studies, and the Korean Journal of International Studies. His recent articles include “The 2019 Hong Kong Protests and (Re)actions of the Chinese Government,” “Flashpoints that do not Ignite? Nonviolence and the 2016-2017 South Korean Impeachment Protest,” “Human Rights Politics in Democratic Countries: The Recognition of the Right of Conscientious Objectors in Spain and Korea.” and “Institutions, Preferences, and Human Rights Protection in Transition Countries.”
